In May’s Balham meeting we will be talking about one of the most common symptoms following a brain injury: fatigue. Come along and find out what the causes are, as well as what strategies or techniques can be used to help manage or reduce fatigue. Share what works for you!

Following our informative talk last month on ‘Emotional changes following brain injury’, we are going to have a practical mindfulness based activity session on 10th May. A time to relax our minds whilst doing some simple art work. We hope to see you there!

Grow Your Own!
During this month’s group you can sow flower, herb and vegetable seeds either to take home with you or to be given to the Headway allotment. Compost, seeds and pots provided.

Ed Mills has offered to start the session with his research on Post Traumatic Growth and positive change after trauma. This is following his reading “Upside” by Jim Rendon.

Richmond Group Meeting

This month, Richmond group will be receiving a presentation from one of their members, who will be talking about his new website, braininjurytouchpoint.com, which brings together different services for brain injury. Attendees are invited to come and listen, support and share their experiences of the services and treatment they received through their brain injury journey.
May Wimbledon Group Meeting

In May’s Wimbledon meeting we will complete a mindfulness activity using mandalas. This will be an activity based session and accessible for all to get involved in.
There will also be plenty of discussion time to socialise!
HSWL will be launching our fourth group – held in the day at Balham Library.
This group will meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 10am – 11:30pm, followed by a drop-in service with our Brain Injury Coordinator, Helen Brunger, until 1pm.
Our first meeting will be Tuesday 5th April and will be a general meet and greet to find out what topics people would like to cover in future sessions. Please come along if you can and help support this new group!

At this month’s Croydon group we will explore brain anatomy and discuss the different types of brain injury.

This month the Richmond group will be exploring and further understanding the grieving cycle. Those that suffer a brain injury and the family, friends and circles around them all experience loss. We will try to recognise and understand the different emotions of the grieving cycle and share with the group our stories and reflections of these emotions.
