Volunteers are vital to the work of HSWL, we welcome offers of help.
There are many ways you could help. It could be a few hours a week giving administrative help, time spent on a telephone helpline, helping with activities for those with brain injury, posting leaflets in your area, or organising outings and events. Help is also needed with activities such as art and crafts, hobbies, and computer skills. As well as fundraising! If you would like to discuss this further, please email us.
Headway South West London (affiliated to Headway UK) is a small brain injury charity providing services for people with brain injuries, their families, friends and carers living in South West London.
We help people by facilitating monthly group meetings for any adult who has experienced brain injury and their family and friends; running a separate support service particularly for carers, friends and family members and also providing a 1:1 support and signposting service.
We also run a bi-monthly social activity programme open to those who attend our groups. We’ve recently grown our services and we have ambitions to grow even further.
We’re looking for people to join our board of friendly and committed trustees. Although we’d be particularly interested in hearing from those with a background in fundraising or a connection with brain injury, you don’t need any specific skills to join us, just enthusiasm and a willingness to pitch in!
If you’re interested in becoming a trustee, and you want to help maintain these much needed services, we’d love to hear from you.
This is a really rewarding opportunity, enabling you to make a real difference to the local community.
Commitment – The trustees meet monthly on a Tuesday evening in Wimbledon. We envisage approximately 10-15 hours per month of commitment is required.
We are always looking for volunteers to attend our three monthly evening support group meetings in Wimbledon, Croydon and Richmond. We also rely on volunteers to help us run bi-monthly social events for members, which are usually held on Saturday afternoons in Wimbledon, plus activities for carers. There are opportunities for volunteers to get involved in supporting our new monthly daytime group meeting and drop in service which are held on Tuesdays in Balham.
Allotment gardening group volunteers
We would like to hear from any gardeners who would be willing to share their top tips on how to get things growing on our allotment in Wimbledon. There are plenty of budding greenfingers among our members and we are looking for volunteers to run gardening sessions to help us get the most out of our plot. If you are interested in supporting us in this way, please get in touch: email@example.com
