Matisse, Art and HSWL in September

MATISSE AND HIS AMAZING USE OF COLOUR AND SHAPE

A big thank you to Jennifer who came along to the September support group meeting and introduced us to the work of Matisse. It was a fascinating insight into how, later in life and handicapped with an illness, a person can still achieve great things. Jennifer having talked about Matisse’s life, then showed us many examples of his work. She then presented us with a fine array of materials and encouraged us to take inspiration from what we’d seen and have a go ourselves.

It was surprising to see the wide range of results, from pure representation, to free form interpretation, to geometric patterning and shapes. We all thoroughly enjoyed the session and hope Jennifer will return and introduce us to another great master.
