Carers Group Yoga

June’s session will be yoga run by Alex especially for our carers group, suitable for all abilities and with plenty of relaxation. It will be a great opportunity to try some yoga in a supportive environment so please do come along whatever your experience. Please ensure you wear comfortable clothing, mats are provided.

June Group Meetings

Balham Day Group Meeting
Tuesday 7th June, 10-11:30am, followed by a drop-in service until 1pm

Following last month’s session on fatigue, we will be talking more about
sleep and sleep problems. We will also look at ways to enrich our sleep.

Wimbledon Group Meeting

June’s Wimbledon meeting will be our Annual General Meeting. If you’d like to find out about what HSWL has been doing over the past year, or contribute your ideas for the future, please come along. All welcome – the meeting will be followed by pizza!

Richmond Group Meeting
Thursday 23rd June, 7:30-9pm

We will discuss what challenging behaviour some people may present with after a brain injury, ways to help others support them to manage this and strategies for you to control your behaviour towards others. This will be an informal group, with some background information given, tips and advice, but plenty of time for discussion and haring of ideas with each other. The group will be lead by Sue in Laura’s absence. She looks forward to seeing you all.

May Group Meetings

In May’s Balham meeting we will be talking about one of the most common symptoms following a brain injury: fatigue. Come along and find out what the causes are, as well as what strategies or techniques can be used to help manage or reduce fatigue. Share what works for you!

Wimbledon Group Meeting

Following our informative talk last month on ‘Emotional changes following brain injury’, we are going to have a practical mindfulness based activity session on 10th May. A time to relax our minds whilst doing some simple art work. We hope to see you there!

Grow Your Own!
During this month’s group you can sow flower, herb and vegetable seeds either to take home with you or to be given to the Headway allotment. Compost, seeds and pots provided.

Richmond Group Meeting

Book and Film club:

Members of Richmond group wish to talk books, TV shows and films that have helped them understand more about their brain injury. Come along to the group and share the resource that has help you with your brain injury journey.

Ed Mills has offered to start the session with his research on Post Traumatic Growth and positive change after trauma. This is following his reading “Upside” by Jim Rendon.

May Carers’ Lunch

May’s meeting will be a family and friends lunch with the opportunity to meet others in similar situations whilst enjoying a meal together. The lunch is open to any carer, relative or friend of a person affected by a brain injury.
