Emergency Fund Grants

We recognise that the coronavirus pandemic has been challenging for us all and that some may find themselves with additional financial pressures as time goes on.  To further support our service users HSWL will now be providing a limited number of grants to people affected by brain injury.

These grants will cover the cost of a single item of up to £500 that HSWL will purchase on behalf of the individual and will be prioritised for those most in need on a first-come, first-served basis.  Further details are below but you may also download this as a pdf here:

Charitable purpose

  • To support people affected by acquired brain injury live with the effects of those injuries
  • Within the geographical area of South West London

What HSWL will give grants for

  • Up to £500 per grant; limited to £5,000 per year on a first-come, first-served basis
  • One grant per patron
  • Must be within the charitable purpose of HSWL
  • Must be within the HWSL catchment area (Merton, Croydon, Sutton, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames, or Wandsworth)

What HSWL will not give grants for

  • Over £500 per patron; or if total grants exceed £5,000 per year
  • More than one grant per patron
  • Grants to be used for things outside of HWSL’s charitable purposes
  • Requests from those living outside of the HWSL catchment area
  • Those with savings of more than £1000

Identification required

  • HSWL may request to see evidence to confirm identity, address, and/or history of brain injury

What happens next?

  • HSWL may contact the patron making the application for further information and/or identification
  • For successful applications HSWL will purchase the item(s) on behalf of the patron
  • Any information provided to HSWL will be stored securely in an electronic format for a maximum of 18 months, shall only be used for HSWL emergency fund grant applications and audit purposes, and will not be shared with any other third party.
