New daytime group in Balham

Balham libraryHSWL will be launching our fourth group – held in the day at Balham Library.

This group will meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 10am – 11:30pm, followed by a drop-in service with our Brain Injury Coordinator, Helen Brunger, until 1pm.

Our first meeting will be Tuesday 5th April and will be a general meet and greet to find out what topics people would like to cover in future sessions. Please come along if you can and help support this new group!

Croydon Group Meeting

At this month’s Croydon group we will explore brain anatomy and discuss the different types of brain injury.

Richmond Group Meeting

Thursday 24th March, 7:30-9pm

This month the Richmond group will be exploring and further understanding the grieving cycle.  Those that suffer a brain injury and the family, friends and circles around them all experience loss.  We will try to recognise and understand the different emotions of the grieving cycle and share with the group our stories and reflections of these emotions.

In April’s Wimbledon meeting we have a very experienced guest speaker coming to talk about the emotional changes after brain injury.

Family & Friends Group Lunch

March’s meeting will be a family and friends lunch with the opportunity to meet others in similar situations whilst enjoying a meal together. It should be a nice opportunity to catch up with everyone over something to eat. The lunch is open to any carer, relative or friend of a person affected by a brain injury.

Cost? Costs will be covered by Headway South West London

We have an area booked near to the front of the pub so you will be able to find us easily. If you would like to attend please rsvp.

February Group Meetings

Wimbledon Group Meeting
Tuesday 2nd February, 7:30-9pm
Drake House, St Georges Road, Wimbledon, SW19 4ED

The theme for this meeting will be brain anatomy; a discussion about the different lobes of the brain and the associated functions related to these areas.

Croydon Group Meeting
Wednesday 17th February, 7:30-9pm

Attention – what helps us to concentrate and save some brain energy!

We will discuss how ability to concentrate can be affected after a brain injury and what we can do to improve it. We will discuss challenges in social settings and conversations, work, cooking and any other tasks you find difficult to focus your attention on. In Michelle’s absence the group will be run by one of the trustees, Sue Hughes. We hope to see you all there!
