Last Wednesday saw a great turn out for the first meeting of HSWL’s Croydon group. The new service has been started to try and support more people who have had a brain injury within the large borough of Croydon. Thank you to Broad Green for their attendance and support. Topics that members would like to be covered were discussed, and it was a great opportunity to meet each other and share experiences over a cup of tea out of the January cold! The next meeting will be on the 19th February 2014. Details will be emailed to members. Look out for updates on our website and Facebook.

Last month we launched a new support service to help people affected by brain injuries across South West London receive better care and support throughout their recovery. We know from experience that as people transfer between wards in the hospital, between hospitals and into their home that continuity of care can be a problem.
The new service will help people regain their independence in their community by providing support, advice and information to people when they leave hospital. The service will be provided by HSWL’s new Services Manager Lauren Macready.
Lauren previously worked at St George’s Hospital in Tooting and at The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney and joined HSWL in 2012 to run the monthly group meetings and socials. To find out more about the service contact Lauren Macready on 07722 861642 or lmacready@headwayswlondon.org.
