Rachel Allan – Chair

I am originally from Taunton in Somerset, but have lived in south west London on and off since 2003 with time off to live in Paris and travel. I have been a trustee since Dec 2009 and I work for a bank. I enjoy walking, cycling and when the weather is warm enough to BBQ in the garden.

I currently work in the public affairs and campaigns department of a children’s charity and have lived in South West London for nearly four years, following stints in Bristol and France. Sonja Soeterik

I have been involved with Headway South West London since 2005. I have worked within the brain injury field for over 12 years, latterly as a Sonja Soeterikconsultant clinical neuropsychologist. I have managed several London neurorehabilitation services for people getting on with their lives after brain injury and consulted with the Department of Health about issues in community rehabilitation and getting back to work. I am now in private practice providing expert witness reports to the courts and working with people in the community after brain injury. I am originally from New Zealand and have been living in England since 1999 – despite my family in NZ thinking I sound English – you can still hear the kiwi accent!

I decided that I wanted to become more involved with HSWL having been impressed at just how much my Dad and fellow members gained from the support group meetings. I am currently the lead trustee for our Carer, Family and Friends support group. I work in Broadcast Media and have a variety of pastimes; but enjoy travel and catching up with friends the most.

Most of my spare time is spent looking after my young son, but I also enjoy gardening, running and swimming.

Susan Hughes

I am an Occupational Therapist currently working in independent practice with people who have suffered a brain injury and their families. I really enjoy this work and often find the work Headway do for my clients really valuable. I volunteered as a group facilitator for Headway West London for a number of years but wanted to get involved with my local group in South West London. I am originally from South Africa but have lived in Wimbledon for 13 years. I love spending time with friends and going for long walks and always like to be planning my next holiday!!!
